Recount Text in EFL Vocational School: A Thematic Structure Analysis

چکیده
Recount text is a staple material taught in the first year of Indonesian secondary schools yet research on this dominant ELT unit limited despite common observation many students struggling to produce well-written recount text. To address gap and problem, study conducted textual meaning analysis texts written by tenth-grade Vocational School. This aimed figure out types themes shown 14 from two different vocational with other majors. The approach used content method belonged descriptive qualitative research. Content as technique analyse data considering Eggins’ 1994 Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory. revealed that most are Unmarked Topical Themes. Every student has way delivering messages they made. Moreover, researchers found Marked Theme, Mood Adjunct Interpersonal Conjunction Textual Conjunctive Continuative Multiple Theme. result present hoped provide insights, gained observing patterns Theme Rheme relations, for English teachers’ endeavours help improve students’ cohesion.
